Born on September 23rd, 1974, in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, Umi Kalsum’s journey in nursing commenced with a Diploma in Nursing from the University Malaya Medical Centre, Kuala Lumpur, where she was honoured with the prestigious Gold Medal in 1995. Her academic pursuits continued with a Bachelor of International Nursing Science with Honours from the University of Hertfordshire in 2011, and culminated in a Master of Nursing Science from KPJHealthcare University, Nilai, in 2021.

Throughout her career, Umi Kalsum has held diverse roles, from Staff Nurse positions at eminent medical institutions like Pantai Medical Hospital and Gleneagles Intan Medical Centre in Kuala Lumpur, to serving as a Nurse Instructor and Unit Manager at KPJ Johor Specialist Hospital. Presently, she holds the esteemed position of Nurse Educator at the same institution.
