Personal Profile

I served as the Director of HKL (Hospital Kuala Lumpur) from 2018 to 2021, the largest hospital in Asia with approximately 11,000 staff and 2250 beds. Before that, I was the Director of Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, from 2011 to 2018.

After retirement, I worked with Mudah Healthcare, Kuala Lumpur, in 2021 and Sabahcare Group, Kota Kinabalu, from 2022 to 2023.

Currently, I am attached to MSQH (Malaysian Society for Quality in Health) since January 1st, 2024. Prior to this role, I served as a Councillor for MSQH Accreditation for 10 years and as Deputy President of MSQH for
1 year.


1. MBBS from Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore, Karnataka State, India.
2. Completed the Advanced Leadership and Management Programme (ALMP) at Intan, Sg. Petani Kedah.
3. Attended the Senior Leadership Programme at the Razak School of Government in Cambridge, United Kingdom.


1. In 2020, HKL successfully performed 117 renal transplant cases, marking the highest number since the procedure was introduced in 1975. This achievement underscores the importance of teamwork.
2. A Pulmonary Tuberculosis (PTB) Isolation Zone was established at the Emergency Department of HKL to house patients before their transfer to wards. This measure aimed to minimize the risk of infection to staff members. Since its implementation, no staff has been infected with PTB.
3. The Hospital Tunku Azizah Kuala Lumpur (HTA), a Women and Children Hospital, commenced operations in May 2019 and was officially inaugurated on January 20, 2020. This collaborative project between the government and the private sector aims to provide specialized healthcare services.
4. Following Sg Buloh Hospital, HKL 2020-2021 became the second designated COVID-19 Centre, highlighting its pivotal role in managing the pandemic’s impact on healthcare facilities.
