Professor Dr Khatijah Lim Abdullah

Professor and Head of Department, Sunway University

Prof Khatijah obtained her basic nursing training in University Malaya, midwifery and neonatal intensive care nursing in the United Kingdom. Both her BSc in Nursing and Masters in Health Services Management were from the University of Manchester UK while her Doctorate in Clinical Practice is from the University of Southampton, UK.

Prior to joining the School of Medical and Life Sciences at Sunway University as Professor and Head of Nursing Department, Prof Khatijah has been a Nursing Professor at the University of Malaya.

With a background in nursing for more than 35 years in both nursing education and clinical practice nationally and internationally, she is a strong advocate for equality and inclusion in not only research activities but also in teaching and actively champions diversity within nursing practice. Her belief in patient-centered care and the importance of patient preferences and values, besides clinical expertise, has led her to a passion for diverse research methods, notably qualitative research methods, and mixed research methods. Her current research interests are in interprofessional education, patient shared decision-making, women and child health, patient safety, and clinical leadership.
