Dato’ Dr Venugopal Balchand, a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon is with Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Assunta Hospital Petaling Jaya and Sri Kota Medical Centre Klang.

He comes eminently qualified with a MBBS degree from Madras Medical College, a Master of Medicine (Surgery) from the University of Singapore and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh.

His career straddles the public and private sectors with 15years at the National Heart Institute (IJN) before moving on to the private sector.

Reflecting his keen interest in teaching, he holds academic positions in Taylor’s University and the University of Cyberjaya.

Dato’ Dr Venugopal Balchand was the former President of the Malaysian Association of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, immediate past President of the Medico Legal Society of Malaysia and currently chairs a task force in the National Coalition for Mental Health Wellbeing. He is a member of the Disciplinary Committee of the Malaysian Medical Council.

He is active in the social media and is a regular contributor to the Free Malaysia Today News Portal.
