Deputy Chief Nursing Officer, KPJ Kajang Specialist Hospital
Ms Gunavathy Manickam obtained her education and qualification as State Registered Nurse from Puteri Nursing College (PNC) in 1999. She started her career as an Intensive Care Unit nurse at Ipoh Specialist Centre. Her first post basic was in 2000 specialized in Intensive Care Nursing with PNC collaboration with University of South Australia. Subsequently she did Cardiac Intensive Care Nursing in IJN with Victoria University in 2001.
Ms Gunavathy continues her career journey at KPJ Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital(APSH) as a Senior Staff Nurse in ICU in 2004. Due to her vast experience and potential, she was promoted as Nurse Instructor at Education in 2008 till 2011 once completing her Certificate in Teaching Methodology.
She also have experience in Joint Commission International audit when she was a Unit Manager in ICU for a year in KPJ APSH. Ms Gunavathy also have obtained Master in Nursing Science form University Malaya in 2012. She transfer to KPJ Seremban Specialist Hospital in 2013 as a Nurse Educator. She actively involved in research and had presented papers at KPJ Conference and International Islamic University Malaysia.
Currently she is promoted as Deputy Chief Nursing Officer at KPJ Kajang Specialist Hospital. She is responsible for the direct management of the activities of the designated area/zone (critical/non critical) in monitoring and improving standards of care through coordinating and supervision of nursing practices.
