An accountant by profession, Mohamad Farid passed his ACCA exam in 1991 and admitted as a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in  2001 and obtained his Fellowship of Chartered Association Of Certified Accountants (FCCA), United Kingdom in 2006. He is also a Member of Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) .

He obtained his Post Graduate Diploma in Healthcare Management from South Bank University, London in 1997 and did his Leadership Development Programme conducted by Henley Business School, University of Reading, United Kingdom in 2011. He also obtained his MBA Degree in International Business with Distinction from University of East London in 2019.

Dato’ Mohamad Farid embarked on his career as a Trainee Auditor in England from 1988 – 1992.  In 1993 he returned to Malaysia and joined Sembawang Engineering Sdn Bhd as Project Accountant at Pasir Gudang, Johor.  The company is involved in the fabrication of off-shore oil and gas drilling platforms for major oil companies such as ESSO, Petronas and Shell.

In December 1993, he left the Company to join KPJ Healthcare Bhd and involved in the first IPO of KPJ Healthcare Berhad and listed at  Main Board of KLSE in 1994 .

His overall contribution to KPJ in Malaysia and overseas such as Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and Australia, spanning more than 20 years, has been immeasurable particularly in the areas of hospital operations, finance and senior management functions such as strategic planning, IPO and investment and  in particular his vast experience in managing aged care and retirement village business in Australia.

He sits as Director of other companies within the group namely KPJ Johor Specialist Hospital, KPJ Pharmarshoppe Sdn Bhd, Total Meal Solutions and Sterile Services Sdn Bhd, and was elected as Honorary Treasurer of MALAYSIA SOCIETY FOR QUALITY IN HEALTH (MSQH) for the period 2019-2020.
