About Malaysia

A vibrant city with old and new landscapes, high-rise buildings, historical spots, latest technologies and a good mix of business, history, culture, fun and entertainment with abundant of opportunities, Malaysia is truly Asian and also “Global”. Also with land of beaches, good food, and rainforests; Malaysia has much to offer to visitors whether they’re traveling for work or for leisure. During your visit to the country for the APHM Conference & Exhibition, you could grab the opportunity to experience the rich culture of Malaysia. There are countless popular tourist spots and hundreds of lesser-known attractions that are worth an exploration.

Exploring Malaysia’s Landscapes

What’s unique about the country is the variety of contrasting landscapes. On one hand, you have rugged mountains enveloped in thick flora of the prehistoric Taman Negara rainforest, which you can explore as you go on a refreshing nature walk. On the other you have warm, sandy beaches in the islands of Pahang or Redang, where you can spend a relaxing afternoon lazing about with a drink in hand. And you can even drive around town enjoying the view of the lights from skyscrapers like the Petronas Twin Towers.

In Malaysia, you can spend peaceful evenings in wooden cottages on stilts as you become more in tune with nature, falling asleep to the sound of crickets chirping. Or you can wake up to delectable breakfast spreads in 5-star hotel rooms with a beach view and then spend the rest of your day visiting malls in the Malaysian shopping trail. The contrast is that striking and that intriguing, making it all the more exciting to visit the country.

Exploring Malaysia’s Food and Culture

Malaysia is a melting pot of different cultures, races, and religions. Not only is the country home to native Malays, but also to Indians, Chinese, and many other ethnic groups. This is perhaps why Malaysia is often called a “gastronomical paradise” and has a reputation for colorful and lively festivals. With so many different cultures living in peace and mixing together, you can:

  • Enjoy a hearty South Indian meal of rice, papadum, and an assortment of vegetables and sides on banana leaves
  • Savor a Nasi Dagang lunch spread with coconut steamed rice, fish curry, vegetable pickles, and fried shaved coconut
  • Sip on some savory Bakuteh, which literally means “meat bone tea” and is made up of meat ribs in a broth of mixed herbs and spices and lots more

And these are just a few of the more notable gastronomical treats waiting for you in Malaysia. You can enjoy a foodie adventure at the finest restaurants in Malaysia or enjoy an authentic street food experience at Jalan Alor. And afterwards, you can witness an explosion of cultures in the Central Market of Chinatown and the Little India of Kuala Lumpur.

As for the locations you can’t reach by train, you can also opt to travel by buses or taxis. Buses can get you to where you need to go with minimal cost. Taxis are a bit more expensive than other modes of transportation but they offer the most flexibility. You can easily find a taxi for hire at every corner. Or “GRAB” services.

However, if you need even more flexibility than taxis you can always hire a car. There are several car rental companies around the city. And you can even choose this option if you wish to travel outside of Kuala Lumpur to other cities.

Domestic flights are available in almost every city/state and the country is lined with excellent highways if you choose to self-drive (from North to South and from East to West)
